VBS & Langley Park Ministries

Week 1

Langley Park KidsClub

With a squeal of delight (literally from Erica Feagans) we took off for Spain on Friday after an exhausting, but great week of ministry to the Forcey Bible VBS and Langley Park Kids Club.  We have now settled into our new home and cannot wait to share with you about our first week of ministry here in Spain at the end of the week.

Popsicles and Paintbaord

Okay so I'm supposed to write about Langley Park last week. It was really great to get to minister to those kids who don't have great home lives. It also prepared us to take the ministry here to Spain. I really felt like it gave me a chance to step outside of my comfort zone and I even got talk a child, Kenny, through accepting Christ. He has heard of Jesus and God before, but he told me "I don't know how to pray to ask Him!" And I could totally tell it was God giving me the words to say to him. You could tell he had heard bits and pieces of the Gospel and had been gnawing on them, thinking them over for awhile. He asked me very legitimate questions about some difficult parts of the bible and it was great to help clear of some confusion in his head.

We're still recovering from jet lag flying over here, but every day we feel a little better. Please pray for Lauren who is really sick. We need The Lord to give her strength and hopefully this doesn't spread through the rest of us! We miss you all already. See you in 24 days! -Bethany Ford

Kids ministry

Week one of Mission Possible took place in vacation bible school and in Langley Park. Every day we stood at the door to high-five kids before they came in for a game time. We built relays, obstacle courses, and all sorts of stations with fun activities. However, my favorite part of VBS was the fourth day when four of us got to demonstrate the sketch board Gospel message for the kids, and after each message the teens talked with a group of kids about who Christ is and why we need to follow him. Langley Park was great too. We got a lot of kids out and they were always so excited to play with us. In fact, they loved steal the bacon and requested that game every day. However we also had a lot of moments to share Christ with them during our message, games of hang man, and songs. Langley park needs a lot of prayer as a community even though most of the kids seem receptive of the Gospel. And if you want to understand the kids clubs more you should come and join us for the fall ministry. -Matt Mallet

Squashed in Euro

It was amazing to see how God provided on the first day we arrived in Madrid we needed groceries to make our meals, so a few of us walked to the only market that was in the town. When we got there, the market was closed. We continued to walk around the town and we found a produce store. We gathered most of the food that was on our list but we only brought around 26€ and the store didn't accept credit or debit. When we were at the check out the total came out to 25.48€. It was really cool to see The Lord provide in a way that we were able to get all that we needed from that store. -Renee Trageser
